What is the point of Linux to any average user? I'm not afraid of configuring a Linux server for corporate scale shit but even as a coder I don't see any point.

After minimal configuration it behaves exactly the way you expect it too. No surprises, no updates forcing features down your throats, no options removed or made needlessly complicated because someone somewhere might misuse them. Computing as its supposed to be.

Winders is basically free at this point and it's built in AV is actually pretty good.

Problem on Windows: click a menu toggle to change some option

Problem on Linux: type this three hundred character esoteric command into the terminal

I can't imagine why normal people wouldn't want to do the latter.

I get, if you installed Linux had too many problems with it, and decided to switch back, because it was too overwhelming

Pretty sure that's not the case with Windows or MacOS.
