The salesperson who conveyed the offer made a very inexpensive proposition for the pagers, "and kept bringing the price down until he was pulled in," the person said.

Imagine watching a :marseymerchant: reduce prices so low and still being to able to catch it

Hezbollah looked for the presence of explosives, two people familiar with the matter said, putting them through airport security scanners

Easy for them to do since they control security at Beirut International Airport.

the battery, labelled LI-BT783, had a problem: Like the pager, it did not exist on the market. ... There was no way to directly buy the AR-924 from his website.

This is crucial because you do not want to accidentally sell your exploding pagers anywhere else in the world. (That's what happened with Stuxnet. The Israelis fricked up and let it get into the wild and it was found in random third-party countries.)

Hezbollah's investigations have helped uncover how Israeli agents used an aggressive sales tactic to make sure Hezbollah's procurement manager chose the AR-924

I think this part is just as important as any of the technical stuff. The Israelis had to actively go out there and somehow convince Hezbollah to buy these pagers that weren't on the market.

That's not as unusual as it sounds. I bought a new Trek bicycle a couple of years ago, and was shocked when I went to replace a component to find out that it was no longer available, and the company that made it doesn't even ship outside of China. And Trek is one of (if not the) biggest bike companies in the world! It took my bike shop almost a month to locate and ship in a suitable replacement part.

Seriouspost tho: They got this one terrorist by removing his car door and replacing it with one filled with explosives. They're quite resourceful that way.

It depends. If it's a legit terrorist, yeah, it happens all the time. But the idea that the CIA is going around the world assassinating politicians and ordinary people willy-nilly is incredibly fricking juvenile and ignorant.

Me: That didn't actually happen. :marseysmughipskorean:

Nothin' fancy, but I like that, so it's not a high target for theft. I do put the miles on it though. I've gone through 4 chains in less than 2 years. The part that we had difficulty re-sourcing was the front crank. Trek doesn't even deal with that manufacturer any more.

Wasn't stuxnet distributed via USB keys too slip through the air gap? I'd assume it getting loose wasn't a concern since it was laser focused on targeting a very specific control in centrifuges known too be used by Iran

Jump in the discussion.

Yeah, that was the idea. And I think it worked for a long time but eventually there was some mistake and they plugged it into the wrong computer. It's been a long time since I read about this so take this with a grain of salt, but IIRC it was designed to cause very subtle failures in the centrifuges that the Iranians wouldn't be able to explain. But it also worked on a lot of Siemens industrial equipment, so when it got out into the wild it started causing subtle failures in all kinds of stuff all over the world and eventually Kaspersky figured it out.

Based. Of course the Eternal Kraut is just casually selling centrifuges used for refining uranium to a totally not shell company they absolutely deserve it

They sold Saddam Hussein the technology to make chemical weapons in the 1980s but you notice you never see any kind of remorse from them about that? They shriek and cry about America "supported" Iraq in some incredibly vague way. The US didn't make any money off that war. The krauts sold their souls and the technology that made the Halabja Massacre possible. (Something like literally 1,000 times worse than anything the US ever did in Iraq.) And they did it purely to make money.

Made me :marseynoooticer: that, during the Iran-Iran War, both Krautlands and :marseycomrade: supported Iraq, gave them everything they need, and practically got away with it. Only the :marseymutt: somehow gets piled on, to this day.

Also, do not forget the frogs, who were basically responsible for nuclear proliferation in the Middle East, in addition to other things the Gallic menace did, and somehow gets away most of the time (even joining Krautland in piling on the :marseymutt:). Point to a MidEast country's nuclear program and there's a high chance the :marseydeux: has its hands all over it.

Perfidy is a more apt description to the Gallic menace than the :marseybong:. Heck, they had a president named de Gaulle, who embodied such perfidy.

The French were deeply involved. They basically ran the Iraqi air force in the last half of the war, planning their missions and stuff. In particular the attacks on tankers in the Gulf, that was done with French missiles fired from French planes. But a few years later they're whining about how what America does in the region is wrong.

Yeah, in addition to creating Iraq's robust (supposedly) air defense system, which was destroyed in short order by the :marseymutt: air force in 1990.

Really, the :marseydeux: deserves more hate than any other major power on Earth today, including the Canaanite one run by the :marseymerchant:.

My understanding is it was developed at the Idaho National Lab. The Israelis' job was just to pass it on to their agents inside Iran who could get physical access. Possibly from the MEK but there's all kinds of Iranians who could do that willingly or coerced. The real heavy lifting was the Iranian agents who delivered it because they were risking getting tortured to death if they were caught.
