Conduit wasn't very feature complete when it came to E2E a couple years ago. It looks easier to use than the python server. Matrix also leaks metadata like crazy and wants you to add their sticker server to your instance. You also have to host your own turn/stun servers along with your own identity provider if you want privacy.

Python isn't as easy when you're trying to launch it via systemd and using a virtualenv while the "install" is just a git repo.
