Idk, I get the impression that Microsoft are saving the truly outrageous shit for when Windows 10 is fully dead.
There are already spyware aspects creeping in. I needed to setup a Win 11 PC with a local account recently and had to jump through hoops in the installer. Then once it's installed it turns out that it prompts users to sign in with the choice of "Now" or "Ask again in 3 days".
It all suggests an attitude that Microsoft controls your PC and you just borrow permissions. Imagine they want to add automatic backup to OneDrive, I doubt you'll be offered a choice once Win 10 is no longer an option

I just booted up my win10 pc after an (unconsensual) update and found something called "copilot" automatically installed and pinned to taskbar. I hate this operating system with a passion. Windows 7 was peak, everything that came after is just varying flavours of shit. This new lab I work in has linux mint installed on most computers, I'm thinking that if I get some experience with it there to the point that I'm comfortable using it I might just rip the bandaid and witch it on my home computer as well. The ads are only in specific areas, like if you use the W11 search bar, or in the Weather app. W11 is fine. Every new Windows since the beginning of time the Linuxcels limp and hobble out of their diabetes-ridden caves to proclaim it's the apocalypse and Bill Gates is gonna steal your kidneys if you use it.
