Honestly… MacBook Pro and a Linux home server

I reluctantly switched and it's just so fricking good. Apple silicone absolutely mogs all other hardware on the market.

Also having Bluetooth that "just works" has been nice.

If you're set on thinkpad I'd get the X1 Carbon though. I've owned a bunch of thinkpads over the years and it's my favorite.

I actually have a gen 6 carbon sitting in my pile of laptops that I still haven't gotten active to setting up.

For reference I already have an m1 MacBook :marseylaptop: that I exclusively use to watch :marseysal2: YouTube :marseykingharkinian: videos

I also have a thinkpad x1 carbon :marseycarsuicide: gen 4 that I use for haxxxing

And a dell latitude

And a dell precision

And two Chromebooks

And an intel MacBook :marseylaptop: Air

And 6 desktops (mostly dell optiplex of various models, one of which I use as a router )

And a poweredge r420 and r520 and t320 (the idrac is fricked on the t320 and I need a new mb to fix it)

I don't even use most of this shit but I still want to acquire more, I think :marseymindblown: I have a hoarding problem :marseycanofworms: !schizomaxxxers !commenters !horders @Turkeyvann discuss

Buy a top of the line desktop or something then.

If you want to hoard shit then just get electronics components, can never have too little transistors, resistors, capacitors, relays, whatever and organize it all into little boxes. Or vacuum tubes if you really want to get esoteric.

Thanks for the reminder I have been meaning to hoard :marseydragon: more electronic :marseyeff: components

I own a several multimeters (keep buying new ones whenever I leave :marseypeaceout: them on by accident :marseyanvil: instead of replacing the battery) and several hundred feet of wire in various gauges I bought at harbor freight while I was stimming out but have neglected to order resistors and capacitors and shit

Oh it really is schizocel. Why tf are you back? I remember when you got some of those power edge racks and had no idea what to do to justify the power consumption so they were just sitting in storage lol

I mean I've hoarded a bit here and there but why hoard a bunch of dated x86 equipment? it hasn't changed in two decades and just runs regular OSes...but slower and worse.

I enjoyed hoarding old 8-bits, they had a lot of character.

Reduce, re use, recycle

Everything runs on x86

Why spend 65$ on a raspberry pi when u can get a 5 year old Chromebook that comes with a screen, ssd, battery, etc for $30

I wasn't saying buy an ARM system simply I don't see what would make an old x86 computer interesting.

This is so :marseyme:

What do you want the Thinkpad for? M1 MacBook is the better daily driver (assuming decent specs) and you already have a bunch of laptops for hacking around.

I'd just wait until something cool pops up on wisetek market if you're just looking for another thing to tinker with and add to the pile.

It's on sale at local store and I like hoarding things and want to upgrade my current thinkpad

I use my MacBook :marseylaptop: mostly to watch :marseywait: YouTube :marseykingharkinian: videos and my thinkpad for codecel :marseyneko: shit etc

Idk why I use my most powerful machine :marseycoinride: for the least demanding tasks but it is how it be I guess :marseyshrug:
