Some people seem to get immense satisfaction and pleasure out of censoring other people online.

It's something I've seen time and time again, in a wide variety of discussions forums, for decades now.

Such people will happily do it for free, and they're willing to dedicate many hours per day to it, too.

I don't understand their motivation(s), but perhaps it simply gives them a sense of power, control, or influence that they otherwise don't have in their lives outside of the Internet.

Just described Bardy lol

As a highly-regarded public intellectual I have just come to Bluesky and found it extremely closed-minded and unreceptive to important new ideas, including the one about what a highly-regarded public intellectual I am. Also nobody with girl names responded to my chats, which were also intellectual.

/2 Also most people on Bluesky have one name, or at most two. Almost nobody has three names, and the few who do are not serious names, names of tradition and heft, denoting serious public intellectualism.

/3 Nobody at Bluesky is a freethinker. Nobody at Bluesky is a contrarian. Nobody at Bluesky has heterodoxy, or as my therapist insisted on calling it when I still had a job and therefore health insurance, borderline personality disorder.

/4 I will decamp posthaste back to Twitter, where my iconoclasm is appreciated, and where I may share artistic photography of my genitals via DM and receive in return appropriately inspiring quotations from Byron or Blake, or at the least, respectful offers to sell me bitcoin

highly-regarded

Well, at least he's self-aware. He is, indeed, majorly regarded.

A bunch of my friends are buying into the bluesky meme so I considered making an account just to park it on the off chance it actually takes off but then I saw feed on the website and decided it just isn't worth it. It was just Trump bad, wholesomerino "humor" and circlejerking about how great bluesky is compared to twitter.

That place is so lame. Everyone talks like they were lobotomized and it's fricking boring.

I like mastodon more because the trolling potential there's actually insane if you're a 'malicious actor'. I made an account and started soft trolling people until suddenly I got a response from this actual freak that started calling mass reports on my posts for shit I never even insinuated in the first place. Almost instantly I start taking on warnings so I report the guy for sending his personal army up against me, right? Big mistake - he's posting from a mastodon instance he hosts himself so the report just goes straight to him and the actual jannies on the main site don't and can't do shit. In response he reportmaxxes harder and gets me suspended.

It was then I realized that if you maintain a private 'for friends only' instance and hook it up to the 'main' instance everyone uses, you can basically just crybully anyone off the Actual Platform from the safety of a private instance if you simply put up a veneer of anti-chuddery on its public face. When are we getting mastodrama?

When are we getting mastodrama?

I think it already happened and the devs simply got too lazy and abandoned the whole project

I love it when a stray masto:marseytrain: that hasn't defederated my instance yet tries to tattle on my chuddery to myself.

The trolling potential's seriously out there, I'm pretty sure you could just host like 5 instances yourself in reserve and just migrate to a different one every time they defederate you. Like this shit's actually opened my eyes to why every terminally online neurodivergent's running their own instance ; it's only a matter of time until you get spear'd by a conniving janny..

Like Wil Wheaton or Natalie Portman? Just make fun of them if they create an account.

Yes because you would have far far less users.
