It's not the troop losses or the territory changing hands that is the true measure of the war's progress but the material losses and the ability to replace ammo. If Ukraine can get the ammo they need then they absolutely can force unsustainable losses on the Russians. I don't think we have enough information to really know if this is a "stalemate" or if Ukraine is slowly crushing Russia over a period of months.

What US voters who support Ukraine need to do is constantly annoy their representatives and make it crystal clear they won't vote for anyone who stops military aid to Ukraine. Guaranteed aid will start again pronto because most American voters support Ukraine and the one thing all politicians want is to stay in power.

I think this is an unfair comparison. NK sent a million low quality shells from it's stockpiles, and they're a nation that only really has artillery to rely on. The EU is having to both get production lines running/expanded and then produce those shells, which will be of vastly superior quality.

I don't know how many shells have been given to Ukraine from western stockpiles already but I'd be surprised if it's less than a million.

We Ignore false claims of " stalemates". Russki losses are irreplaceable, and those are immense and highly militate For Ukraine and death knells for Russki troops and evile goals. & daily, weekly crushing Russki losses are total defeats.

Russia has lost 6000 long range artillery in the last 12 months, of which 5000 was lost in the last 7 months.

They've lost a lot of artillery certainly, but so has Ukraine. And the problem is in long term prospects - Russia has geared up it's manufacturing base to support the war in a big way, and the weight of that is going to start to tell eventually unless we match them. Oryx puts Ukraine's artillery losses at about half of Russia's - unless we're delivering to Ujraine about half as much as Russia manufactures then their relative strength declines. This is a long term problem; they're not expecting to win this year, but they pretty clearly expect to win in 2025/6 by simply outlasting Western support.

That might not happen of course, but we need to ensure that Western politicians are actively taking steps to prevent it. At the moment the Russians are taking the problem of equipment supply in the long term more seriously than we are.
