Russians just tried to blow up the Kyiv hydroelectric dam.
— Jay in Kyiv (@JayinKyiv) August 26, 2024
If successful, this will permanently flood one of the largest cities in Europe.
Meanwhile, US forbids Ukraine from stopping it. pic.twitter.com/16paLGfG45
Ukros claim that ruskies used over 200 drones and rockets and that they destroyed most of them before they caused any damage
Good lord. The Ukrainian Air Force reported about the huge missile and drone attack that happened this morning. A total of 236 missiles/drones were used by Russia.

But the important part, Khohols, in some stroke of pure genius, built their capital city downstream of a massive dam, so big that the resulting lake is called the Sea of Kiev. For some reason they didn't consider what would happen to their biggest and most important city if the dam breaks, and considering the shit they pulled at Chernobyl there's always a non-zero chance that Kiev will be dragged into the Black Sea. Slavs
Anyway, Putin just droned the dam Didn't managed to break it tho. Although there's still time, and there can always be more attempts in the future
Video from /k/ about what would happen if the dam breaks, don't know or care how accurate this is

They broke their own dam a few weeks ago, so hopefully they are in a flooding mood

Still sad Russia didn't nuke itself in Kursk to show the world that they aren't bluffing about nuclear war and also wipe-out 10-15k of Ukrainians best troops and gear.

It would have been great But they probably got scared of having to deal with decades of nuclear radiation and chickened out But who knows, maybe khohols can approach Moskova and they'll panic

Sure they deal with some radiation problems for decades BUT they get to keep pretending that they are still a world power as the Yuropoors would immediately start chimping out for Ukraine to sue for peace.

Commies really loved hydroelectric power so there are dams all over both Ukraine and Russia. Even if the Kiev one holds there are are some really good chances that some other dam somewhere will get eventually wrecked

Dams create jobs, look cool and can be named after the politician who greenlit it and you can totally fluff numbers and steal an insane amount of steel out of them before it becomes a problem. But that problem will be a problem in 20+ years when you are probably dead.

Hmm, I was told that when the soviets built the Kiev hydroelectric dam they designed it to withstand an american nuclear strike

The fricking dam is fricking still standing, so it can at least survive a fricking shahed drone
But I agree that someone should nuke it just to see what happens

Egypt has all the major cities build under a big dam.
If the big nile dam collapses it could flood and displace 60% of Egypt's population

Egypt at least completely depends on the fricking Nile so they probably didn't had much options. Ukraine is fricking full of rivers, they could have placed their capital somewhere where it won't get wiped off the fricking face of the fricking Earth.
