Ukrainians might be better off at this rate to bomb shit out of Hungary and then wait for liberation by NATO

A NATO occupation would be better than Russians

Just ask Germans eh

Yes. please bomb Hungary :marseyagreefast:

Looks like restarting nuclear armament the only way. Pathetic

But I don't want another slav country to have nukes :marseyworried:

Time for a joint Polish Ukranian nuclear programme. We are a part of nato but it's better to play it safe.

Oh no, it's two more slav countries now :marseyveryworried:

I don't think the US should dictate who's in the alliance. But Hungary exists so the whole unanimous vote is pretty rough.

NATO is Murica's toy, if they want Ukraine into NATO it will get in with or without Orban's approval :marseysaluteusa:

Not sure what the point of this is?

How would it work? They are already at war, so I assume rule 5 or whatever it's called does not apply, or if it does why tf would anyone vote yes.

Will this increase the aid it can receive? They already are getting everything many NATO countries can throw at them anyway.

Is this supposed to be purely symbolic?

NATO rules already say you cannot join when you are involved in an active war.

This makes it even more confusing.

Is this a vote for Ukraine to join, but only when the war is over?

General rule of thumb is that accession to NATO requires any major outstanding territorial disputes to be resolved, and ending the war doesn't equate to that outcome. Unless Ukraine specifically renounces their claims on their own 'lost' territory, then they will forever have themselves stuck in this limbo

Russia's goals in Ukraine have shifted markedly ( especially after hostemel :marseyxd: ), but a major aim has always been to restrict Ukraine's potential entry into NATO and Russia initiating a frozen conflict with them achieves that, theoretically.

Yeah, I assume it's a symbolic 'the west stands with you' gesture. People on the internet still struggle with the fact that NATO isn't helping Ukraine with the same fervour they would help a fellow NATO country :marseyshrug:
