He thinks Russia is a meme in terms of a great power confrontation and therefore deems things that, under the school of Offensive Realism he follows, will lead to getting involved in any kind of Russian quagmire as a net negative to his preferred focus of an active and aggressive containment policy of China. Specifically, you have to get into his theories on regions, superregions and regional hegemons but that's the gist of it.
He wants the US to focus on crushing China in the here and now as he deems Russia to have no capacity outside its area basically.

If that's the case, and it's all about "realism" and facts not feelings, why does he care and cries about Jews killing a-rabs? Also does he actually think the US will be better off if it shows it abandons its' allies because they're not in the region he cares about?
