Smart to get out of dodge tbh. And Ukrainians are to the Canadian Praire what Germans are to the US Midwest so smart country to go to.
My guess is that Easterners went to Russia instead, Kievites jetted out as soon as they could using money and connections and the other sad saps in the middle got screwed.

My local Ukrainian got refugees status in EU and in Russia at same time. They spend summers in Russia
