There's a 30 For 30 on broke retired athletes. Basically football players are getting $50000 paychecks every week for a few years and spend money like they'll be making that for their whole life but are retired by the time they're 30.
Take a poor academic performer, tell them they are special for playing a game good and pay them millions of dollars. Is told his shit smells like roses and endless women beg for his pp. Now tell him to make wise financial decisions.

I vaguely remember there being a whole thing with him being unpersoned for saying it's ok to beat his children because that's how he was raised and he still became successful in spite of it. I think he either got fired over it, or had lots of trouble getting signed with other teams after that because he was a media liability.
I assume that, coupled with the common story of how nfl players of all races from poor backgrounds tend to spend their money and save almost none of it, probably explains what happened here.
Yeah, he caught a felony for child abuse (in the South no less) after hospitalizing his son. He got suspended for a year over that. It wasn't just that he hits his kids, he brutally beats them apparently.
Usually, and I'm pretty sure it's the case with him, athletes end up spending a ton of money on child support and those payments don't become smaller once you stop making millions.

How's he broke already? He hasn't even been retired 5 years.
There's a lot of cheap shit on there. Might have to check it out again in a few days.

Isn't he still with his wife? Wiki has him defaulting on seven figure loans left and right even during his career stretch

I think he's still with his wife.
I don't get why a guy making 8 figures a year was taking out loans. Should be the one loaning money.
