In the end he finds himself getting turned into a god against his will as his empire plunges further into degeneracy and decline, creating this living nightmare of a feedback loop for him. And he still wouldn't be an omnipotent god like Yaweh or whatever.
And worst of all, he's actually a Turk! They want to worship a Turk!
