A quote from this foid author who started it all
but typing this has already been triggering enough and I think it documents the essence of the meeting

I disclosed that I was brought onto the committee in the first place because I am fully mentally disabled and started to say why that was relevant. Derek cut me off and continued talking.

I felt forced to choose between staying silent and causing our announcement to be indefinitely delayed without any stated cause, or to be set up as "unprofessional" – this was ableist, sexist, harmful, and wrong.

After this, as a legally fully mentally disabled person with PTSD, I was physically distressed for days. My arms and eyes kept twitching and I was waking up screaming. I talked to Chris, and said – I can't do this again. Can we ask Gen Con to accommodate my disability? I'm happy to work with them, but I can't handle being personally attacked like that physically. (Also, Chris has asked me not to speak to the health effects he was having.)
You get the idea of what type of person this is. Seems like they invited some no-name, activist BIPOCs to headline the writers stuff and gencon was unhappy about financially supporting some no name no draw DEI activists versus someone like Sanderson who they have had before.
This person has how been booted from the two largest board game cons in North America.
The author this committee foid is stressing this is all over is mikki Kendall
Mikki Kendall (born October 23, 1976) is an author, activist, and cultural critic. Her work often focuses on current events, media representation, the politics of food, and the history of the feminist movement. Penguin Random House published her graphic novel Amazons, Abolitionists, and Activists in 2019, while her political nonfiction book Hood Feminism was released in early 2020.[1]

Her book list has absolutely no fantasy, sci-fi, or gaming stuff. It's all activist work on politics, race and neoliberal stuff. Even then it isn't a big library of work. She would be a terrible nonsensical fit for a gaming convention. But I'm willing to bet there is more to this and Kendall is being focused on by the insane foid because it's a black woman and the optics work better.

Again, this is a board game convention, not the DNC.

On a personal note I've dealt with the people around Gencon and Origins in the past. To act like they are racist and centering whiteness is insane. The people running these events, and the power player volunteers behind them are all aboard with lib social politics. They are all about DEI and inclusivity to an insufferable level. I felt nervous dealing with them even as a BIPOC because I worried I would say the wrong thing and create an incident.
This is a developing issue and gencon hasn't responded yet. But I would bet my left nut that the fault lies with the "disabled" foid and that there is way more to the story.
I think this is a pretty good post and should be pinned.

Patrick Tomlinson attended this year. Somehow, he is to blame.

If he did it as anything other than a regular customer, then he's definitely a sign of how pozzed the whole thing is.
