In a Chain, If a card or effect that is optional can only activate "When [X event happens]", then that event must be the LAST thing to happen, and that this rule applies to ALL cards, regardless of card type.
idk why but this card gave me more ptsd than all the fricked up shit in yugioh combined back in 2017. i like uct because i unabashedly adore GX but the rest of the nudinos were pretty lame.
You take that back. Dinos are relegated to outside the meta now but when these guys were released it was insanely fun to be Dinochad especially with the Paleozoic trap monsters.
I still remember back in the day people losing their shit over the targeting and non-targeting effects. Still, what archetype would even benefit from this card nowadays? Did fusions get enough support to make them viable after Anaconda? I stopped playing around the time Links came out so I'm a little out of the loop.
Every beautiful person I've known has been allergic. Every single one, I started testing after 4th one. Not only that, they all seem to know what I'm getting at when I ask.
Back in 2007 we took the piss out of the absurdity of Yugioh being so complicated that it needed a Dual Academy in GX - now 20 years later normal people have their brains melted when you try to explain fundamental modern yugioh shit like Chain linking and missed timing

For competitive decks it's like watching Solitaire where the most powerful, expensive decks become irrelevant every few months. If your opening hand is good, you can have absurdly long combos that last for 5+ minutes. A single turn can look like: play a monster, use your monster's triggered effect: I'll discard this and this. Hoo boy another triggered effect: I'll discard this which lets me play another monster, recycle this, cancel their special effect, AND play a monster which lets me play another monster which lets me remove 2 of your cards...

Fake oldstrag, FAKE FAN. I dunno anything from the last 15 years+. I'm talking the OG monarchs, the original sets. Retvrn to OG Yu-Gi-Oh! or admit you're a zoomer that will NEVER challenge me to duel. @DWHITE__________DYNAMITE@Rescarer0 Ping oldstrags NOW.
@kaamrev DUEL ME IN THE SCHOOLYARD OR WE'RE DONE. THAT'S IT. NOW OR NEVER.
the original monarchs were from 2004-2005, and they were very powerful group of tribute monsters which got effects specifically for tribute summoning, and they were powerful - but as the speed of Yugioh became more frantic and fast, and special summons started to outnumber the normal summons, the act of relying on tribute summoning became more and more "bad" or outdated.
Then, about 10 years later 2012-2014, the original 2004 era monarchs would get some mega turbo charged support, to propel them into a top tier archtype. Basically, they got a shitload of support spells, and the mother of all fieldspell cards ever printed - basically negating the very act of special summoning itself, meaning that both players were forced to go back to tribute summoning, comepletly cucking the format and cucking all losers who relied on the new summoning mechanics like Pendulum/synchro and shit
Old school strags loved monarchs, and propelled the archtype to top 10 infamy in the game's history.
I personally was too brokenshit poor before 2010-2011, and my backwater farmville rural shithead hometown nobody fricking played the game, so i was not aware the very original monarchs were printed THAT early.

It's all explained in the card very simply in plain English. You shouldn't need an explanation for that basic interaction
If you want to see some real nonsense checkout the Shifter/Macro Cosmos interactions with Pends. Actual rules lawyer bullshit to kneecap the entire card type.

Macro Cosmos interactions with Pends.
Isn't that just a card-specific effect always overrides the general rules?
Konami decided that Pends only go to the Extra when they go to the grave so despite Macros and similar saying "any card sent to the GY is banished instead" the Pends get banished because they are still going to the grave even though they are going to the Extra. People will try to rationalize this in whatever way they want but it's transparently a power-cap on Pends when you look at Floo's roughly equivalent rulings.

I've never played Yu-Gi-Oh, but the comment makes sense to me, too. I did play games like Magic back in high school.
It's basically saying that "on summon" occurs at a specific, later time, and that "on summon" requires the triggering creature to still exist at that time.
the problem which exacerbates this is that there is a flotilla of cards which have effects activated on and after summoning - which pulls the rulings in different directions due to the diversity of cards and effects.

Synchro and XYZ were good mechanics. It was after Pendulums that the game started really going to shit. Links were the final nail in the coffin.
Pendulums during MR3 were absolute cancer to play against. The only good change those Master Rules brought was removing the +1 draw when going first. I still have nightmares of going up against full power PePe . Then MR4 came and it somehow managed to be even more cancerous than MR3.
