That's a Shia twelver thing in Iran, Pakistan has always had tension between the inherited elements of Dharma faiths like hijra and Islam. This has frequently been the target of Islamists which want a more pure Islamic society. It's similar to osu system in Igboland and how that's been targeted by Christian fundamentalist Igbo.

Interesting. I take LBGO means the gay community? Is Pakistan on of the more liberal socities in the ME?
Do you have any other readings about this? There has to be a big book somewhere of all the different relgious sects in the Middle East and how they splintered off and changed. My knowledge of the history of that area is lacking, as you can see.
