I check /tttt/ for bong trans genocide news that isn't optically appropriate enough to get blasted from the rooftops and end up here (eg. yesterday it came out that the NHS is offering trans minors free 'consultations' to try to find out if theyre using private care, and if the minor admits to this they blackmail them with threats of CPS referrals if they won't agree to stop).

Imo the decision should be left with the parents for the forseeable future, it's clearly beneficial to the overwhelming majority of trans youth but even if the detransition rate is 1% that's still a risk/reward that reflects on the parent's values. Of course because everyone worships the government this reasonable middle ground will not be allowed so

I will say there's a section of tumblr that's very chill and bohemian and has good attitudes about most things, kind of on a spectrum from left-libertarian to right-anarchist while avoiding the toxicity of the rest of the site, where many trans people hang out (but not exclusively so). i went to a trans meetup thing irl with my parents to try and ease them into it. (basically all the parents went to one room to ask questions and stuff and we hung out while they did that).
it was interesting, there was one youngshit ultragigapassiod there who i couldn't believe was trans (she mostly kept to herself), and then there was also this one really creepy balding trans "girl" (like 18-19yo?) who wouldn't shut up about s*x and was showing off their amazon purchase. i avoid those kinds of things because (1) i dont like being trans and (2) i dont want to be branded as trans and (3) some trans ppl give me the ick
