Someone should write an effortpost series on the fall of World of Warcraft

It's a fricking 20 year old game that brings in 5-7M people paying their local equivalent of 1 hour min wage a month (+cash shop and an xpac every 2 years). It's doing fine.

Just people change or get bored of shit and that's fine too. Just lots of idiot losers would rather pretend the game changed or their friends that made it fun left than that they did.

It also has a very divided player experience and is a very large game to the extent it's actually difficult to talk about because you can grab 10 players and what they love and hate about the game will all be completely different.

You don't understand, they were 13 and r-slurred at gaming so leveling+exploring was so cool and interesting until they grew a single brain cell and finally hit endgame.

Also legitimately just exploring in video games is a great experience, but it doesn't ever last long enough for people.
