I'm not even sure I'd count Visas (or the Handmaiden for that matter) as a romance. She "falls in love" with the Exile in a very abstract manner and nothing physical ever happens. Instead of a s*x scene you just meditate together. There's a stronger argument for Kreia being a romance plot.

And writing is briliant on multiple level. At first world is magical and wonderus. Then you realise you get mostly second hand accounts of events. And you arent sure if villager really saw elf or not. You start to doubt if gods really did anything or not. But world is magical and its everywhere. But you dont know how much and what is magic and what is just ramblings of crazy person.

I've played many RPGs of all different
types and the only "romances" that I've found 
even the slightest bit compelling are those that don't involve the player 
character 
at all, or those that end with the death 
of the player 
character's love interest within the first 
hour of the game. It's gotten worse over time as modern 
party 
dialogue mostly consists of you and your companions discussing your respective trauma and giving each other free therapy.

I don't think the dev and the story writer understand, "absence makes the heart grow fonder", if you let the player romances EVERYONE, you are going to lose the uniqueness of each characters.

DA2 had unironically the best system and only LGBTBBQ people complained about it because it was bad for muh representation. Don't want to get stragged at? I mean how is that a shocker to anyone? Players want to frick/romance characters that accepts all of the players configuration and taste, so devs naturally have to make followers/companions accept any romance to satisfy the most wants from the players.
In the age of slop you dont need an interesting character/follower anymore that has their own set of principles and fixed desires beyond some vague alignment bullshit.
I think the last time I remember a compelling secondary character was maybe Garrus in ME2. He was my bro.
There was never a female companion in any game where I was like "wow I am really in love with the idea of this woman."
Its all surface level and superficial. If you want a romance-able robot just go to a s*x ai website.
Like I find companions burdensome for the most part. You just need one at most to max out their bullshit stats in healing and buffing and you're good to go.
