Life is Strange: Double Exposure Should Borrow One Feature from The First Game

The June Xbox Showcase revealed plenty of exciting upcoming titles, including Life is Strange: Double Exposure. Like prior games in the series, it'll feature a murder mystery and it's up to Max Caulfield to solve it. However, she's older now and she has new powers to help her out.

The use of music has always been a staple in the franchise, and it helps to highlight emotional moments and make them memorable. This is something the upcoming game should embrace as well, so long as it's used effectively.

Life is Strange Double Exposure Reveals Another Murder Mystery

The lastest upcoming game in the cult classic series is Life is Strange: Double Exposure. There's a lot to be excited about, as it sees the return of Max Caulfield from the first game in the franchise. This time around she has a new power that allows her to jump between timelines.

There is a murder mystery afoot, as she finds her friend Tzafi dead in the woods in one timeline. The race is on to solve the mystery and prevent the murder from occurring in the other timeline. It's complicated, but Max's powers have never been known to be simple.

Welcome to Caledon University

The upcoming game takes place in Caledon University, Vermont where Max is a photographer-in-residence. This shouldn't be unexpected for fans of the series who are familiar with Max's love of photography. It appears that much like Life is Strange: True Colors, players will have a small environment to explore and familiarize themselves with.

How Music Was Used Effectively in Life is Strange

In the first Life is Strange game, music played a huge role in setting the tone and general feeling of the game. This is made apparent in the first episode where Max Caulfield walks down the main hallway of Blackwell Academy. A nostalgic guitar tune plays which instantly transports players back to high school along with all the cliques and cliches that come with it.

Music is used effectively yet again when Max and her friend Chloe Price wake up together and some soft guitar music plays, perfectly encapsulating the calm and peacefulness of the moment. It's even more fitting if players choose to kiss Chloe during the scene.

The Role of Music in Life is Strange: Double Exposure

There'll be plenty of emotional moments in Life is Strange: Double Exposure if it's anything like its predecessors. Max has a new friend named Tzafi and they're bound to have touching moments together as they try to prevent Tzafi's murder. There's also the horror of the murder mystery to consider. With the right music, these moments will hit harder and have a greater impact on the player.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure is set to release on October 29 on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. A Switch port is also in the works though details are still to be announced. It won't be much longer until players are reunited with Max Caulfield and are desperately attempting to prevent the murder of Tzafi using supernatural powers.

Conclusion

I've quit my bipolar meds and while I felt a slight mood dip, my thoughts feel much more fluid and I feel more like myself. I feel a desire to write and all I need is a good topic. I'll be honest - I haven't started my piece on Sodom and Gomorrah but I'll get to it eventually.
