Why do people take so long in online card games?

I play eternal which is basically a clone of hearthstone which is basically a clone of magic the gathering. It's fun but just like in any other card game there's people that take EVERY second humanly possible on each turn. Even in masters I never take more than 10 seconds on each turn. Even the most complicated decks might take 15 seconds of thinking. I genuinely cannot understand what it's like to have a 90 IQ. Imagine taking 120 seconds on something where you have basically 2 or 3 optimal moves in any given scenario. I usually have my entire turn planned out by the time they finish theirs and speedrun pressing the end turn button.

It's crazy how slow people can be.

I have to narrate my thoughts in case they make an anime out of me playing the game.

no excuse for doing this in Eternal, but in Faeria there can genuinely be turns with a million different things to consider and basically no reliable way of finding optimal lines (speaking as a 140 IQ ADHD-haver anyway)

I almost picked the other game instead of eternal when I started playing eternal but for some reason I hate hex grids.

I'm amazed the servers are still on but it's probably my favorite digital CCG of all time (technically a Living Card Game instead since they transitioned to a one-time-purchase model 6 years ago). I think the hex grid adds nuance with such a small board and the movement and taunt mechanics work well with it (not to mention the game's core mechanic of placing lands).

I wouldn't be recommending it if not for the current steam sale which makes it a killer purchase; it's overpriced at any other time of year with all the expansions being paid DLCs, but I've definitely gotten my money's worth from it over the years.
