I think you're mixing communicating and giving new information together. Communication doesn't have to be giving us new info.

ie Travis used to pop up on reddit in bug report threads with comments like "This is definitely not intended, I've passed this onto the team" or "It looks like the team are already aware of this". Its acknowledging what people are putting out (doesn't have to be every single comment people make either). Samir has been the CM for almost six months now, I honestly couldn't tell you if he even has an account on reddit.

During the 5+ week period he didn't even load this forum in March/April, he was on Twitter almost daily on the Hitman account replying to extremely random tweets. While we were here asking for clarification on things and waiting for answers, he was too busy tweeting to a random streamer that the Hitman account liked their new hair colour. I'm not even kidding - this is a real tweet

the story: essentially Hitman is on life support as the team is hard at work on the Bond game theyre developing, but with no news on the Bond game theyre still putting out new content for the game. however, while they do this, theyve hired a new guy called Combatglue to do the community managing. not only is he quite bad at his job, taking month-long breaks to go to Twitchcon but he's also using his job purely to promote his twitch channel with like 7k followers

this making Hitman fans really mad and not only have they been researching the guy's history of being lazy at other game dev studios theyve found out that he's been trying to flirt with people using the account, including this transwoman:

Why the frick is Hitman man online with servers that require maintenance? Isn't it a purely single player game?

Usually in Hitman if you kill a guy, you're trying to hide his body, and some other dude wanders in and catches you, most likely you're just going to reload a past save rather than bother dealing with it. The developers have always wanted to encourage that instead you actually try to think on your feet, i.e. figure out if it'd be easier to run away and find a new disguise or shoot the guy in the back of the head and find a place to hide his body too. Past entries the best they could do is limit your saves but most people just save strategically and reload anyway. There's a few game modes that try to leverage the online only shit to add more stakes, Elusive Targets you get a temporary target to kill and if you frick it up :marseyitsover:, Freelancer mode if you die you lose a bunch of progress. It's always been controversial, it kept me from even attempting these games for years but tbf when it works it works.

Honestly, as a kid the hitman series always seemed really appealing but now the concept of the game just seems kind of boring.

Doesn't it basically just revolve around discovering the, like 8 special ways to kill someone and then exfiltrating? But you can just shoot the guy in the head and come out fine too.

I think it was some sort of consequences from when they were originally building the game, i think it was intended at first to be a Mario Maker style of game where the goal was just to share levels with other people but when they retooled their maps to have a singleplayer campaign too the infrastructure was already there and is difficult to change
