5-12 years of development for a sequel is too long to keep giving a shit

Resident evil series figured out a new release every year or two.

Final Fantasy figured it out.

Mario figured it out.

The call of duty franchise figured it out.

Game sequels should at most take 3 years to release.

After that its too long to remain invested.

Rockstar only gets away with it because there is a nigh and day difference in quality with each mainline release.

Even Assassins creed has it figured out.

5 years for a gears of war sequel is too long.

5 years for a spiderman game sequel is too long.

The world doesn't have the time to wait that long.

The only time you get away with time spans longer than 5 years is when you completely revolutionize the quality of the game in the sequel. Making a night and day difference in quality.

Half the AAA titles out there have a hard time doing this.

GTA VI and Death Stranding 2 are the only two true AAA titles worth looking forward to right now.

Next year is going to suck.

Other giant studios need to start doing an activision and have multiple smaller studios working on the same franchise to get one release out every year or two at most.

Conclusion:

The ps6 is going to be even less impressive than the jump between the ps4 and the ps5.
