Cant watch right now, but I'm pretty sure the "access media" thing is the core of this situation.

Jou#lists are not bought by handing them money, but handing them privilege of being the first to get the game and "report' on it. Invited to events, getting early access. All that translates into articles and those into clicks and money.

You misbehave by not giving 9.99/10, you lose all of this.

Indie and other smaller games are not impacted by this, and thus get often lower scores since g#ming j#rnalists suck at gaming and journ*lism.

it's specifically because of the accusation of "access media" of DA4 last night, that i've searched the term as ive never heard it before.

I knew of it for a time, but dismissed it as one of the many buzzwords in the Culture War (TM), after I learned what it means it does make perfect sense though.

Haha, seems like you have an excellent way of processing the world, dismissing real shit when encountering it and finding out like a decade alter you are wrong, good stuff. Glad we got your opinion in this thread then, an August Intellectual is coming around folks.

Kind of ironic because that situation is creating a feedback loop that devalues the whole thing.

Part of why people hate gaming journos so much is because they give falsely positive and generally unhelpful reviews that devalue anything they say.

People turn away from the traditional gaming publications, which devalues the privilege of early reporting access to these games.

But the journos still have to behave in this unpopular manner or they'll lose that reporting access, even though sucking up to the publishers is why people don't care about their reviews anymore

We already have seen how this plays out in other types of media. Exhibit one:

Firstly: Trans Lives Matter

Secondly: Collider Video Rich is reacting to, or at least part of it since the orginal is gone.

Guy does not get invited by Disney to get free stuff like the rest of his crew, throws a fit. Producer tries to tard wrangle him, but is a tard as well. The words "I've been busting my fricking butt being a Star Wars fan for five fricking years." are uttered unironically by a human being.

Reviews are pointless because most reviewers only play 3h on average. This is why longer games always get bad scores with few exceptions. Even chrono trigger objectively probably the best game of all time didn't get perfect scores. Famisu gave it a 34/40, edge mag gave it a 7/10. What the frick? I bet reviewers didn't even know all the cool secrets or the trial tricks or the 17 alternate endings. Did any of them even do combo ultimates?
