Dragon Age Veilguard has peaked for today.

That not what you would expect. It started strong but began tapering early.
We will see if the weekend numbers go higher but I have doubts.

Despite what Grummz says these are okay numbers. They are not good so rightoids feel vindicated, but they aren't bad so leftoids feel vindicated.
The seethe is just not there

Successful triple a peak at around 200k. Viral games at around 2 mil. Factorio is not triple a so this is pretty good for them, but very meh for something with a budget like Veilguard. If you like veilguard I wouldn't be to worried as it'll still be successful enough, and if you hate it it will not make enough waves to cause issues.

Silent hill 2 peaked at 23,676
Metaphor peaked at 85,961
Sonic x Shadow peaked at 7,894
All 3 of these games sold 1 million copies in 1 week (or even one day) and were a success. Yeah they didn't do Wukong numbers but not every game has the benefit of China (looking at player charts the peaks were during hours when everyone would be asleep in the west). The only games i can think of which peaked at over 2 million concurrent players were wukong and palworld. Elden Ring peaked at around 964k, Witcher 3 at 103,329, among us (which is the largest casual viral multiplayer hit in recent memory) at 447,476. Counter strike 2 peaked at 1.8 million. Dota 2 at 1.2 million.
For a single player western RPG (which is already a niche genre with this game getting limited advertising and hype) 70k opening launch run is fine. Its not a runaway hit but its not a total flop. If it wasnt some ff15 tier dev heck money pit it will likely make money.

This is some wild butt revisionism
Game had more hype and advertising than all three of those games combined, like 10 years of reveal teasers and tie-in material. And you're going to call single player western RPGs niche? In a post skyrim world, when a western Crpg won game of the year laster year? Neighbor you are fricking insane.

Look at the player numbers. Balders gate 3 has a peak steam player count of 875,343. Cs2 has 1.8 million. Shooters are more popular then RPGs. Im not a dragon age fan so idk about the lead in. Ill just say i never heard of this game until the drama. Whereas i was spammed with endless ads for SMTV and metaphor.
Dragon age just does not have the clout it used too sorry. My point isnt that Veilguard is a sucess on par with balders gate 3 its that its not a flop. Its player numbers are tracking as well as other successful triple A games along side it so unless it has a crazy high budget (idk how with how hideous it looks) it will likely make a profit ergo making it not a concord level flop.

The writing of the game seems cringey but the /v/ campaign to sink this game failed. You're arguing with someone who doesn't care about numbers, he just saw a stupid bit of dialogue and needs the game to be a failure.
The lesson to be learned here is woke shit will not cause a game to be a failure by itself. Concord didn't fail because it was showcasing a black trans woman, it failed because it was $40 trying to compete with the free Overwatch

The numbers say that a AA new IP with a much smaller budget is better than it

The ones that cannibalize some preexisting popular IP usually have okay sales at least for a while. It's much harder to create something new that's woke from the start, those almost always fail.
A lot of consoomers buy the new iteration of DA because they liked the previous ones. If they're turned off by the sensitivity training play and lack of C&C, the damage to the IP only becomes apparent in future iterations. But there is no incentive for CEOs or creative directors or other corpo bigshots to care about that. Nobody can prove today that what they're doing will end up harming their company ten years down the line, and by then they'll be long gone.

And sports games are more popular than shooters, doesn't make shooters niche, and doesn't make western RPGs, which jave been in a renaissance since skyrim, niche either.
Almost every teaser trailer for Dragon Age over a million views Metaphor and SMTV both only have 1 trailer to get over a million views. You not hearing about it is a short coming on your part, which makes this statement;
Sourced straight from your butt
2/3 of the games you compared it to are not triple A games, neighbor what the frick. Not only that it doesn't even have half the players The First Descendant, a free to play korean titty game, did on launch.
Easily 3x the budget Metaphor had, at the least, and that's not factoring in advertising and the 3 revisions it went through during development.
Concord is probably the biggest media flop in human history, nothing is going to be on its level anytime soon. It was also a new IP, those are more likely to flop. Established IPs like Dragon Age don't flop as hard as new ones, but having a lower player count than some Atlus rehash, when you had 10 years, dozens of books & comics, a board game, and a netflix series is firmly in the flop zone.

Dude... it's Steam you're looking at. BG3 is out on PS and XBox, CS is not, neither is DOTA. Yeah shooters are more popular on PC, no shit, what sort of zoomer r-slur uses a controller in an FPS?

Thats a live service multiplayer game. This is doing almost as well as atlus's recent jrpg which was a massive sales success already. Live service multiplayer game based a popular media franchise in the shooter genre is going to have more concurrent players then a solo RPG (a more niche genre then shooters) with the Dragon Age brand being pretty dead. There hasn't been a game in the while and there was little hype or advertising for this one. Game is still utterly terrible but the fact it's tracking around a tentpole triple A JRPG which was in dev heck for years signals thats it's probably gonna do fine sales wise.

The multiplayer in warhammer sucked, it was mostly a singleplayer game. And Metaphor probably had half the budget of DA and is less known then DA

Metaphor has been in dev since persona 5 vanilla and is made by one of the biggest jp devs and likely a goty contender lol. To ppl my age atlus is a way bigger name then bioware. Idk anyone who gives a shit about dragon age and only a few who care about mass effecf.
