Over engineered, no one wanted the touch screen, no one wanted the back touch, no one wanted the tilt controls, it was just way too expensive for a bunch of shit no one wanted
But it was the memory cards that really killed it, double the price of microSD, speed was the same, reliability was dogshit
Hackers eventually figured out a microSD adapter for it, but that took like ten years and by then it was too late, Sony only gave this thing like a year of support before giving up on it
It got a few good games but they're mostly all ports of PS3 and PS4 stuff
Remote Play was pretty neat tho, you can even use that with your phone if you're a touchscreen poorcel
Contrast the 3DS which also started out with problems but Nintendo fixed them, Sony blamed mobiles for Vita failing but the 3DS printed money and now Nintendo's main console is also handheld

The Odin 2 Mini basically stole the design if you want something more modern in a similar form factor. Android gaming mostly sucks though and emulation isn't as good as on x86. In particular, Vita3K isn't quite ready for primetime yet.
