Crusader Kings 3 is a medieval RPG strategy game where you play as a nobleman or woman.
It's Paradox's third best game (the best is Victoria 2 and second best is CK2 but CK3 is going to get there once it's feature complete) and it's worth it if you like this kind of shit.
Princes of Darkness is a mod for CK3 that introduces Chronicles of Darkness mechanics to the game. It's still set in medieval times, but there's plans to eventually release a modern nights version.
Yeah this is the CK3 mod, but there's also a CK2 mod. However, CK3 is more approachable for new players.
I don't know how expensive it is right now, but there's a sale coming in a few weeks, I'd wait to buy it then. I should let you know that PDX's games are a DLCfest but pirating the DLC is really easy, you just need to check out cs.rin.ru.
It's a steam workshop mod, so I imagine putting it in the steamdeck should be seemless.
HOI3 literally had automatic battleplans you fricking r-slur both games reward micro and are only fully experienced in MP. HOI4 is in many ways especially post-NSB shrimply streamlined hoi3 (welcome change) with certain macro stuff added to make up for it, like custom composition brigades for your divisions compared to hoi3s static brigades and tank/ship designer.
I like hoi3, but if you don't think hoi4 is good too you are just r-slurred or a contrarian, no serious hoi3 player didn't make the switch.

besides all the words words words this is just saying you played hoi4 for a couple games in 2016-2018. especially the notion that hoi3 was more involved than 4.
I was going to search something to insult you with and I notice you are a member of !chastity so I won't insult you because I think you might enjoy it!
EU4 isn't a game bro, it's a map painter. There is literally zero gameplay beyond conquest and every mechanic it does have exists solely to fuel your annexing spree, people just play it to larp as a color. The only one coping is you.
>I almost always play tall anyway, it was great trolling the ottomans as venice by talking all the tiny port province in MEIOU.
So you're playing suboptimally, the point is that the objectively optimal way to play EU4 is to annex everything, which isn't actually the case for hoi4. You scale way better if you build normally. While also having plenty of good mechanics like supply, navy and of course proper army. EU4 is simply death stack till you win, no strategy at all beyond cheesing gold for more troops to the deathstack.
It's fine if you like to map paint, but don't claim it's a game or even comes close to HOI4, or even victoria 2. HOI4 is an RTS with builds and competitive PVP, EU4 is a map painter which only has RP as MP.

still is, especially since 1st (2nd?) dlc added the dominion manpower thing
Besides the point anyway, soyfacing over "playing optimally" is gay and r-slurred for people who spend too much time learning metas of made up pseudo-simulation (play chess if you want fair competetive multiplayer).
Say in something like cracktorio, solar may be best in multiple ways but I'm still gonna go with nuclear since its more interesting/cooler Nobody cares if its "not optimal", its a frickin game anyway.
Playing optimally simply means your rewarded for it immensely, there is no meta in EU4 because the game is simply too simple for it. My point was that you can win in like 40 years by just annexing a few AIs, it's ridiculous. It's not a game. It's a map painter, and the EU series is always the first of any engine system PDS makes because it's "gameplay" boils down to "grow your color on the map", remember when there wasn't even such a thing as playing "tall" because you couldn't develop? Good times.
>Say in something like cracktorio, solar may be best in multiple ways but I'm still gonna go with nuclear since its more interesting/cooler Nobody cares if its "not optimal", its a frickin game anyway.
But see that's gameplay, you get options. You don't in EU4.
