CONTEXT- "I thought the Voice failed? Why are there elections for it?" This is a state's Voice (South Australia specifically) established by legislation so the people couldn't say no to it. This voice is also a babushka doll of voices, where local voices send representatives to the state Voice for some reason.
Not a lot of comments on this thread so far, but the article is funny enough. Some highlights-
According to the Australian Electoral Commission, there are an estimated 27,534 Indigenous Australians enrolled to vote in SA. This has grown approximately 10,000 in the past six years. However, about half of all Indigenous South Australians live in Adelaide
Over a third of people claiming to be Aboriginal did so in or after 2018, if you were wondering why all the "first Indigenous XYZ" looked so mayo.
There will be a total of 46 members of the SA voice from six regions. Elected members from each region will form a local voice. Each local voice will nominate two members โ a male and a female โ to sit on the state voice.
???
Only Indigenous people were eligible to vote in the SA voice election and only Indigenous people were permitted to nominate. However, the person nominating to be on the voice did not have to be a traditional owner in the region where they nominated. For example, a Torres Strait Islander Australian who lives in Adelaide could have nominated for the voice.
Lmao. So it's not even people indigenous to the area, it's just no evil colonisers.
He told The Australian that some Indigenous voters in SA were bruised by the emphatic defeat of the national voice referendum. โThere is a hangover from the referendum in terms of some people not wanting to be engaged,โ Mr Maher told The Australian. โA lot of Aboriginal people gave a lot of themselves during the voice campaign and they have been taking time to heal.โ
Aboriginals got so deflated after the Voice (national) got defeated that they're now too sad to vote.
!strayans lol, lmao even

After eight years, i resigned as a moderator of my community (please remove if off-topic)
I've been the main moderator of the same community since 2016. This evening, i approved my last comment.
I'm leaving for two reasons:
1. Reddit went public a week ago. I didn't volunteer to work for a publicly traded company, i volunteered to work for a community. As long as i live under capitalism i accept that my labor will generate value for shareholders, but darned if i ever do it for free. (this is not a Faulkner quote)
2. April 1st is coming and i'm scared they might do another /r/place. Doing in /r/place 2022 and 2023 has left me dejected and bitter and i don't want to feel obligated to participate again.
Leaving felt like ripping myself off of something warm i've been comfortably glued to for a long time. Still recommend it for anyone still giving Reddit shareholders free labor

I guess he's threatening to invade Bosnia or something? The Europeans really should have gotten around to fixing the whole Bosnia thing by now.

Checked out the https://suno.ai tool and wanted to make a version of "We Didn't Start the Fire" but changing the lyric to follow the evolution (and eventual degradation ) of the internet. Despite skipping over 1/3 of the lyrics, this generation is the best of the batch in terms of feel
For some reason, after the "AI wrote this song, soon it will kill us all" lyric it starts an inspired instrumental section that was not in the original prompt

Doing something tough and manly like playing quarterback for an NFL team while also not being afraid to act feminine and unapologetically express yourself is what I believe the kids nowadays refer to as โbasedโ

As a NY fan I'd take Caleb Williams penchant for pink over Aaron Rodgers right wing conspiracy theories but regardless would settle for a winning season.

People don't care about Caleb Williams painting his nails. what's annoying is him acting like he's the first male to ever paint his nails during peak male painting their nails time and acting it's his cross to bare for society lol. Dudes just cringey it ain't that deep
