It seems like American teachers and university professors can be really blatantly political without any repercussion. In Europe even when I was studying stuff like sociology the teachers were careful not to choose one side over the other or otherwise tell us how to think.

This guy was my genetics and virology professor. I swear the only reason I got A's in both classes was so he could tell me "good job." lol
He was younger and must have just liked teaching because he taught the med school students during the day and us undergrads at night. He was probably neurodivergent because he had a Phd and an MBA or MD (can't remember which one) and was not very old. Looked like mayyybe late 30s/early 40s.

That's not hard. BSc by 22, MSc by 24,PhD by 28, and give some actual work experience before an MBA at 32.

It might have been an MD then. idk. He was a smart dude and taught well. I think maybe high school teachers would fall under that category, but being a college professor requires active research (my school did anyway), and I think it's a respectable career.

Teachers can be pretty blatantly political over here in Flanders. Had 2 teachers who were proud commies and a lot of talks ร la "the anti-immigration party wants to kill the muslims". Don't really see what restrictions there are on that. It's not seen as an issue other than by rightoids.

I do nursing at uni in Australia, thankfully it's not as "woke" infected as you might think, nursing teachers seem to value everyone equally because you don't discriminate on who you medically treat, so that carries across I guess. That said, they told us to use gender neutral language if we can, but that's becuase the APA who have a monopoly on academic referencing are telling everyone to.
