The only stuff that is or could count as intervention during that time that I can think of the Gulf War, the no fly zone and sanctions afterwards, Lebanon, friendly relations and some military aid to Israel, and the U.S. companies getting yeeted out of Iran and the embassy staff almost getting yβalled.

I'm not going to longpost about the Cold War, proxy conflicts, arms deals, counter-measures, and diplomatic aid in the ME during the 70s to 90s. To believe that US intervention during that period was insignificant and hardly related to 9/11 is mind-numbingly mistaken.

But the US interventions in the ME were much less significant before 9/11 than after. Also, please longpost because I generally don't think the US did much pre-9/11 but I could be wrong. We supported Israel (but Israel did the heavy lifting), we had marines in Lebanon(however the US was merely trying to hold Lebanon from falling apart and I don't think the Marines actually fought much), we supported Saddam against Iran(Bin-laden would like that probably as Iran is Shia), we supported the rebels against the Soviets( Bin Laden agreed with us there) , and we invaded Iraq after Saddam invaded Kuwait(I know this pissed Bin-laden off, however, his holy army plan was neurodivergent and the US had tons of support from other Arabs). Is there anything much I am missing?
