I lived in Hartford CT for almost 2 years and it was commonly called that in the city . It was an epidemic there in 2006 and while the local news referred to it as a "public disturbance". All my neighbors and co workers reffered to it as neighbor knocking. Also since it's not a thing in the rural areas ( because you will get shot dead) and is only in the suburbs or urban areas you saying it's a rural thing is incorrect. Do better Hodor.
