Based boomer dog whistles about the gays
The Navy used to screen new accessions for psychological proclivities that were not a good fit with military life -- pyromania, sexual perversions, psychological problems, etc.
Edit: getting downvoted by people who like/want to frick kids.

Youโre in the US Navy, no it fricking doesnโt.
Fortunately youโre surrounded by weaponry and incredibly deep water almost all the time. A 100% effective solution is seconds away 24/7 and doesnโt require any embarrassing disclosures.

When even was the last time the US Navy was really in anything approaching a battle?
In fact any navy? The most recent I can think of was the Falklands (and still kind of a walkover) and that was basically 40 years ago.
I was talking with a marine the other day about this. I said why would I want to be the guy carrying $20K worth of gear, when I could be the guy in $2Bn worth of ship, or flying a $50M helicopter? Which one is going to be seen as expendable?

It's not really that simple. You have spec ops forces in the navy that obviously participate in a lot more than boat battles. Then you have individual augmentee assignments where anyone from any branch could be used to fill jobs. The army used them a shit ton to fill convoy duty jobs during Iraq and Afghanistan when the deployment tempo was insane for everyone.
You also have joint commands where every branch supplies manpower to accomplish a single mission.
Tldr military sees troops as a bit more interchangeable than you'd think. Edit: also the navy has a huge air force, so if you count bombing kids then they've had non stop combat via that for a while now.
Also the navy supplies 100% of the medics for the Marine corps.

Yeah my air soft league is heavy into rp, so I didn't really get a chance to see much combat as a cook (I was responsible for bringing food and putting it in dishes and serving it). Thankfully I learned about the military from Reddit and convinced my sergeant to let me be an augmentee and finally got to go on the field.

You do know not everyone in the Navy is on a boat, right? Although I do like your solution for the pedos!

Yes. I actually wasnโt trying to denigrate our seamen, Iโm just pointing out how not traumatic it is. And how not traumatic virtually every aspect of the US military is.

The only mental toll is from lack of sleep. Which is, like, shitty, but also you arenโt seeing your buddy die of tension pneumothorax in your arms.

I'm pretty sure a lot of sailors on the SEA routes frick kids on port calls, I have an uncle who was a captain on one and he said rounding the crew back up from Bangkok or Manila was pretty difficult. Captains are cucked on that, they have to stay on the ship. Not nearly as much interest in port calls in the UAE or African countries.

Weird, because - based on their track record - it seems more like they select for people like that.

But needing the "harmless outlets" in the first place IS the red flag!
Also, can you even imagine the fallout if a navy servicemember diddled a kid and it later turns out the navy had been supplying them with loli hentai as a "harmless outlet"?
