Last anime post has actually been exactly a week ago, how time flies, right?!?
Well sweeties, instead of sleeping I just watched 'The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace', and it was a wild ride. In fact I just finished it 10 minutes ago and it inspired me to make this post. It was a great anime, at no point I felt bored, always something happening you wouldnt have predicted. I just hope a second season will come, and hopefully not only in 5 years (yes I know the source material is basically at the same point as the anime). I watched some other stuff too, but I think idaten was my favorite of the anime I watched recently.

I watched one episode of Dragon Maid this week. Been rewatching The Sopranos leading up to the new movie, now I'm done so I'll likely start on my backlog again

theres barely any anime worth watching once you get older but i did watch the evangelion movies recently because of nostalgia. they started out ok, even the third was acceptable, but the fourth is the most deranged shit ive ever seen. self indulgent garbage by a guy that stumbled into wealth and a relationship but never actually grew up. skin deep philosophical themes (like all anime) and terrible CGI. classic case of a director having too much buget with too little restrictions and just spazzing out, like a child mashing action figures together. i dont understand how this got made or who it appeals to

Who cares if it's deranged? The movie tickets sold, the brand is more valuable, the merch will bring in even more money. Heck, half the attraction to Eva the series was that it was controversially mature for a kid's show and that it didn't exactly make sense towards the end.
Furthermore, I can only assume that some of these pseudointellectual cartoonists went insane during the 90s recession and still haven't had enough treatment.

yeah original EVA didnt make sense in the way LOST had a lot of allusions to things that didnt matter or werent explained in the end or the weird hyper psychological ending but it was still a coherent story with a lot of silly buzzwords and they added a movie on top to make a more reasonable ending. the fourth movie literally has waves and storms of EVAs crashing down on cities, millions flying around when NERV consists of two old dudes and a couple workers, theres an imaginary EVA and a thousand other things. they will say some deranged shit and then explain the deranged shit with more deranged shit and until that movie none of this was ever mentioned. if youve seen the original evangelion you should check out only the fourth movie, you will see what i mean, this goes far beyond regular anime/evangelion/japan crazyness. the fact that it made good money and most people like it is the most confusing thing ive ever seen

Idaten was seriously good last season. It was probably the best thing airing in an otherwise stacked season.
This was just catching up on shit I missed when I went to touch grass.
Black Company was a solid Isekai, Slime had a few too many episodes of standing around talking, Peach Boy Riverside was crap due to the out of order, Megami Ryou was great until they introduced the childhood friend, and Jahy was something I had been hyped for for years to get an anime. This season I am hoping to catch up on some backlog, I still haven't seen the new Gundam Movie.
No new waifus or anything exciting like that. I wish figures were cheap, Douki-chan has a figure up for preorder. $157.99.

I think I'll pick up the Wonder Egg OVA, BnH 5, Tokyo Revengers, Magia Reco 2, the Higurashi season, Maid Dragon, the house Husband show, Shadows House, that Vivy show, 86, and Nagatoro now that I've actually taken a look at the last few seasons. As for figures, I was thinking about picking up a King Crab KGC-000 or KGC-001 model, maybe some others like an Annihilator ANH-1E, or the rest of my little mech company to have on my desk.

I cannot recommend wonder egg. It starts great, but goes downhill fast, and the ending is awful, but I might as well just watch the real ending/OVA since I've made it this far. Higurashi is great, and while you dont need to watch all the season leading up to the last 2, they're pretty fun.
I've already got some of figures, Asuka, 2 Hiadamari girls, Tsukihi from Monogatari, a hand full of Railgun/Index girls, Flandre Scarlet, Holo, 2 Hidamaris, and Megumin.

I never get expensive ones. Most of mine are probably ~$50-75 buck, but if you were to try to buy the exact ones I have, I assume they'd be more expensive now, due to being older and no longer being made. For example, this was $78 when I bought it (sadly got a bit busted up in a move), and now it's over $300. Meanwhile, I bought this in 2014 for $40, but I don't think it's gone up in price at all, given that they release almost the exact same figure every year but higher quality, this being the current version.
oh and the 3D printed little mechs are like $10 on etsy since they're just 3D printing files from a game or community created stuff that's free.

Gou was actually pretty good. Brand new story that picks up after where Kai/Rei ended with a good mystery with enough clues that some people were able to figure it out.
Sotsu was 13 episodes of mostly recap mixed in with cuts of the villain making evil faces and then 2 episodes of Umineko chapter 8 bullshit (saying this as someone that actually mostly liked Umineko). Spontaneous Dragon Ball Z type shit that you're just supposed to handwave away with a "it's witches or something, idk" and finishing with the most underserved "happy ending" I've seen in a long time. The vast majority of the main cast gets completely sidelined. It actively shits on the themes and message of the original series, all for the sake establishing a shared universe with Umineko (and Ciconia) that we already knew about and doesn't actually matter to the story. Apparently 07 wanted to write it because he wanted to let some of the characters from the original have some redemption, which I actually think is a neat thing to do, finding a world where even characters like Teppei and Rina turn out alright. But his story to get there absolutely ruined a main character and it was not worth it.
