Bait idea: political campaign subreddits for controversial politicians

Remember all the seethe generated from the Bernie and yang subs? Remember all the seethe generated from official accounts of organizations? Why not combine the two? Marco Rubio is up for election in 2022. Bill r/Marco2022 as the official Reddit headquarters for the Marco Rubio campaign. You could probably just grab all the assets from their website and put in the sub’s css. Imagine the seethe from a pro life candidate trying to organize grass roots phone banking and door to door campaigning. Or conversely, someone like Joe Manchin who’s holding the whole Democratic Party hostage. Honestly the seethe generated by a “traitorous” dem would be even greater. It would also be great journ*list bait. It could potentially even get Reddit in trouble.

DNC-produced documentaries are amazingly/alarmingly tonedeaf. Gotta be the same team that did "Fauci" (if nothing else a PR disaster on Rotten Tomatoes) and the 2016 Clinton campaign. I can almost smell the incompetence.

I don't actually know anything about Pete Bodygag other than that he took staged photos in an ICU bed during a LITERAL PANDEMIC :marseymask: for an adoption and husband.

So he loves bussy and drama, what's wrong with that?

I know it’s against the spirit of the website, but I had to share

I would pick two of them. Choose them such that everyone would think they are incompatible, then focus on whatever commonalities they have. I remember a few posts advocating for a Trump/Sanders combo because they’re both populists.

I think that’s a great idea, truly r-slurred enough to make it believable that Redditors would organically create it. But you lose the major drama factor of being an “official” representative of the campaign. Remember when the loot boxes comment became the most downvoted comment on Reddit? People would think that their comments are being made directly to the politicians campaign so the seethe would be intense. Imagine the sort of emails that politicians get, except being made on a public forum filled with drama actors pretending to support the candidate. I wouldn’t be surprised if you could induce death threats.

Shut the frick up. Chances are you will never have to face issues related to abuse or racism (assuming you’re white) and because of that it will always be something you can “joke” about, because it will never seriously affect you. Maybe if you actually knew what it felt like to be secondary or othered because of your race, or if you were traumatized from domestic violence or knew someone who was, you’d know why this makes the people actually affected by that uncomfortable. This meme could trigger flashbacks and other trauma for an abuse victim and ruin their entire day, possibly their entire fricking week or even more, and they’d have to deal with that because some edgelord thought it would be a funny meme format.
