I feel like LBJ is closer to a Dem Reagan. FDR knew how to coalition build with both parties as well as compromise (at least later on) with the cross-partisan opposition and was a war leader who helped mobilize and lead to victory. He also left an impression, often positive, on the parents of boomers who hold him similar light and was just generally charismatic. FDR dying in office after just about leading the country through two enormous crises and having lead for so long probably just cements that.
Those who criticize his policies today tend to still have him in high regard among them. Libertarians seem to have the biggest bone to pick with them but A) some still laud his war leadership and B) their opinions are largely worthless lmao.
