Alright then, let’s debate, as I somewhat agree. There are two primary genders, male and female, just as there are three primary colors, red, blue, and yellow.

Red, blue, and yellow are the building blocks of other colors in pigments. Mixing them together in differing amounts, though, will give you a multitude of different colors, so many in fact we don’t have names for them all. Remove them all, and you get another color: black. Add them all in and you get another: white.

Gender is the same way. All genders are derived from the two primary genders (or lack there of): male and female. Mix the two in varying amounts and you get the non-binary spectrum. Remove them all together and you get agender (or the lack of a gender). Mix all the genders together and you get gender fluid, the ability to be all genders.

There are two primary genders, but they are the building blocks for other genders.

Someone who is non-binary here! (Which… I’m only out to like 6 people irl so like… No it’s not my whole personality…?)

I’ve identified as NB for close to 10 years now.

I’ll give you two reasons. Reason one: I’ve never understood what people meant when they say they identify as a woman or man. Most people do and I respect that. Men will get angry if you treat them as a women or say they are a woman. Security in one’s gender is a very popular phenomenon. Most people identify as one or the other, whether cis or trans.

This just doesn’t make sense to me lol. To me, biology wise, a vagina or peepee is no different than having different hair colors or nose types. But it’s undeniable that people feel more strongly about their gender than their hair color. “Hair color” isn’t as strong of an identifier as “gender”. To me they are no different but society clearly feels otherwise.

So I guess I just don’t get gender. “Man” and “woman” doesn’t make sense to me.

But I do respect that other people feel strongly about gender identity.

Reason #2: I believe in reincarnation to some extent. I try to imagine it as a scenerio where you are reborn in a different body but with all your previous memories available.

For the people that believe gender is tied to your biological s*x… That should mean that if you were reborn in a female body despite being male in your past life, you should (according to this logic) magically start identifying as a woman. But somehow I doubt this is true.

For me, I am who I am. I could be a male, a female, a dog, an insect, a whale… If I have my memories I’m just me. Gender and s*x doesn’t play a part in that.

Simply put it: I don’t feel strongly about gender identity. I don’t get why society puts so much emphasis on “man” and “woman”. I wish people treated me no different than they would meeting someone with brown hair vs blonde hair. I wish society wasn’t segregated by gender.

Though I still understand that that’s how most people view themselves and I can’t force anyone to view gender the way I do. Just as I expect people not to force me to view gender the way they do.

This entire shit is beyond r-slurred when you really think about it. S*x really doesn't matter at all, especially if you can't reproduce. So there's no reason to make your entire personality around it. You don't shake hands with strangers and say "i like to take it in the butt, please respect me" or "I zipped up my kitty and refunneled my peehole to replicate a peepee & can peg people. Please respect my pronouns" Like why does it matter that fricking much? Life does not revolve around s*x.
