When it comes to something like overwatch a lot of these points actually make sense from a character design perspective. You want distinct silhouettes (body type/race) distinct voices (culture=accent) and in general a lot of thing which would affect appearance are good.

I think the point is that almost no one says they want to play a character because they are white but there are tons of people who will play a game due to certain poc characters.
