I think I'm on the same page as you here. I know the jannies here won't agree with me, but I think this site would be better off forcing "LOOK GUYS A DID A THING" posts to /h/chudrama, as they seem somewhat antithetical to (what I feel to be) the overall aim of the site - while also making the site much more difficult to sell to new users.

As far as I'm concerned though, as long as there exists some place on the internet where fun is encouraged instead of rage at the current thing I'll be content. My life is pretty good as it is, and I'm not interested in spending my time on the internet doing things which don't improve my life in some way. Right now, rdrama does that for me, and if that ever changes I'll either move on to the next site which encourages fun or just touch grass.

While more leftoid economic and social policies might greatly help the less visible elements of homelessness and perhaps even reduce the more visible ones years down the line, their bleeding hearts regarding MUH DIGNITY AND FREEDOMS of methheads and schizos is simply leading them to political suicide.

Much of the US is exceptionally bad for its homeless problem considering its first world status. Ive been to a number of similarly developed countries outside the US and the problem barely exists in comparison, regardless of whether rightoids or leftoids are in charge. While they often do have better social safety nets in place, you are also simply not allowed to be homeless wherever you want in those countries (ie. Japan).

The left needs to make a tough decision. It should invest in its economic and social programs to curtail homelessness and provide a better infrastructure for treating mental illness, while simultaneously taking a tough love approach on those too far gone. Los Angeles was just on the verge of electing a Trump-approved mayor, who may still have some chance to win during the run-off election in November, all because the left keeps kittyfooting around the necessary short term sacrifices regarding MUH FREEDOMS of the methheads and schizos. Maybe with Gavin Newsom signing into law a statewide bill regarding court ordered treatments for schizos and methheads, there is a glimmer of hope that the left of center is finally growing some balls.
