For context, WOTC sells cardboard lottery tickets at hilarious prices on the condition that the cards are legal for play somewhere, and have value based on some nebulous axis of availability and desirability. There’s a vein of ancient cards that are worth a ton on something called the Reserved List, which basically can’t be printed again (because they need a break glass in emergency fund and they’re making enough money without them.)
Today they announced a reprint of the original Magic set, as a limited run box of 4 random boosters full of non legal cards. For $999 US per box.
So for the cost of or a chunk of the cost of some of the priciest collectibles in that original set (or a rent check), you can buy 4 packs that might contain a proxy printing of one of those cards.

I was looking for this because I still get my cardshit news from reddit. And wowza people were incredibly butthurt about this product that they don't have to buy. Like this ship sailed long ago with regards to integrity-in-business (lol) and I guess people are finally noticing?

DUDE i just LOVE the calm relaxation of the Midwest town, it's so PEACEFUL and makes me feel like i'm at one of my favorite FARMERS MARKETS. you should totally come on down to my rural farmhouse, it's got a MULTIPLE ACRE GRASS yard and everything, we can crack open a nice Busch Lite or eight and get crazy shooting some guns on the range! and dude, dude, DUDE, we have GOTTA go down to the towny bar- listen here, right, it's a BAR where us FARMERS who do FARMING can go DRINK. BUT!!!! it's also a BAR that doesn't ID kids, so we can smoke cigarettes INSIDE, with dumb kids bothering us. speaking of which harper and i have just celebrated our 7th anniversary -we're both going to her 5 year high school reunion tomorrow at the church, that way we can show off how much we spend on our THREE KIDS. OOFTA , i'm gonna SLAM this puppy chow and have some deer chislic!!!
