Redditors sneed over best healthcare deal ever

https://old.reddit.com/r/mildlyinteresting/comments/z0oo4h/my_city_rolled_out_a_yearly_ems_subscription/?sort=controversial

If you unironically support free healthcare you're r-slurred. If we get free healthcare all that will happen is a bunch of r-slurs will start demanding full check ups every time they get a new pimple on their butt.

60$ a year is a great compromise. If you cant afford it you deserve to die.

>Is this something I'm to European to understand? Do you have to pay for firetrucks during a fire and police during a terrorist attack too?

>Dear America, You are broken. Sincerely, Almost the entirety of the rest of the world.

>Meanwhile here in Germany: Ambulance is free πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

>And my country has universal healthcare, which makes ambulance rides free

>Lol, that fricking country, man.

>r/boringdystopia

>lmao, imagine paying for a fricking ambulance...

>Fricking kill me now

>Ya'll don't get free health care?

>As an Aussie this is just odd. I wouldn't get charged for calling the police so why an ambulance?

>Aussie here: do Americans just not know how bad they have it when it comes to healthcare?

Ok im australian and i can say with firsthand certainty, they charge your butt for an ambulance lmao.

>i fricking hate it here

>$60 per year is way cheaper than the amount of extra tax Europeans pay their β€œfree” healthcare. My private healthcare coverage also costs me less than what Europeans pay and it includes ambulance coverage. But if I didn’t have that, then I would sign up for this service! Thanks for sharing OP!

>Single-payer healthcare or socialist revolution. The choice is yours, fatcats. Be grateful that the guillotine isn't on the table just yet.

You cant afford 60$ a year wtf you gonna revolt with?

>God I hate the American healthcare system.

This country is too fat for universal healthcare. :marseyscooter:

people don't trust the rest of society to not abuse the system.

universal healthcare can too easily be abused, so you can only implement it in high-trust societies that have informal mechanisms to prevent this abuse.

if you have high diversity you'll have low trust, unless there are strong unifying factors to make up for it -- the US used to have patriotism and christianity for that. both often seemed ridiculous to europeans, whose countries didn't need them to keep from falling apart.

Nowadays most western european countries, if they didn't already have universal healthcare, there's no way a voting majority would agree to introducing it now.

Yeah it's $75 bucks PER ambulance trip to get a ride to the hospital to then wait in the ER for 22 hours and hopefully not die before seeing a nurse who was trained in a third world country you've never heard of before or a doctor with an accent so thick you don't understand.

I think seniors get a break and pay $45 for an ambulance but $60 a YEAR for a whole household is an awesome deal.

Americans who envy our "free" Canadian health care system are r-slurs.

Ambulances are free in euroland.

As a result, people literally die waiting 40 hours for the amberlamps.

One of the articles I read last time mentioned maybe 1:7 ambulance calls are actually life-threatening. Make ambulances free, people treat them like Ubers

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

In the US we shift this burden to the ERs themselves. If you're about to die in the waiting room they'll usually roll you in. On the flipside, if you're unnecessarily using the ER as an ordinary doctor checkup, it'll run you $2-4,000.

Our ambulances are ridiculously expensive on their own but that's sort of a separate issue.

R-slurred Auscel. Australia does in fact have a user pays system for its ambulances, with a yearly subscription model for all adults.

First of all, learn how to spell my name correctly. Second of all, you're wrong - Australia has a free healthcare system. It's called Medicare, and it's available to all Australian residents. So please, do your research before you open your mouth and make an idiot of yourself.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

stfu r-slur. ambulance isn't covered by medicare. some states (like qld) have a system where it's paid by taxes (car rego fees). in other states you either buy a plan, or it'll cost you like $1500.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

stfu yourself, you ignorant idiot. first of all, medicare is a federal program, so it covers ambulance services in all states. secondly, even in states where ambulance services are not covered by medicare, it's not like $1500 is going to break the bank. so stop spreading lies and false information, and get your facts straight before you open your mouth.

This already happens with poors on Medicaid. They take their kids into the ER for the common cold. I never met anyone in my entire childhood that was so sick from the flu or cold that they went to the emergency room, but in my limited visits to the hospital it’s a bunch of latinx children with a runny nose. Hence the rise in Urgent Care centers to lighten the load on hospitals.
