I think they are sorta fighting for money though, even if they are paid diddly squat at the moment each person going in to kill Russians is imagining some glorious win. Cold War drooling about how disgusting communists are broken at their knees and the patriots can take everything they want. Soldiers are promised their low pay + harsh conditions are a sacrifice for better things at the end.

Within the following days, I spent a lot of time at the park, watching the wind blow through the trees and the children playing in the fields. I questioned the very fabric of reality.
