First Contact makes me seethe the most though, the Borg Queen completely ruins the Borg hive mind. Picard is also reduced to a me-too esque crying cute twink "traumatized" by the Borg.

After seeing Robert and the rest of his family he was fine. He had multiple interactions and confrontations with the Borg afterwards, he even chose not to genocide them when the g*mers Geordi and Data came up with their big brain paradox loop to wipe them out (using another rehabilitated drone). Picard made peace with the issue there and chose not to wipe them out.

Heck, you had Sisko raging at Picard in the DS9 pilot because of the time he was assimilated, he didn't ball up crying like the Picard of First Contact would have. It's this r-slurred veneration of victimhood mindset that the r-slurred Picard reboot series amps up by a warp factor of 10.

The movies should have ended with The Undiscovered Country, it may have saved me from being such a turbo-autist. The only redeeming aspect of the TNG films is cucking Wil Wheaton so hard.

Eh, hollywood is basically peak soybrain, they didn't just think the message made them money, but are the ones promoting the message. Plus there seem to be no good writers left in the studio system, its all just Alex Kurtzman-tier.

Yeah, people thinking this is some kind of calculated move by studio execs trying to use progressivism to cover for other aspects of their game/movie etc. being shit is wishful thinking. Simple fact of the matter is that most movie studios/production companies are located in cultural hotbeds - California, London, Mumbai... At some point you gotta ask yourself if it's the studio execs cynically using what was less than a decade ago pretty fringe thought and movements for uncertain monetary gain, or of it's the producers, directors, writers, actors, supporting staff etc. living in the most progressive cities in the world who genuinely believe this shit and it's reflected in their work.

This is also part of the reason why there will never be a huge amount of creativity in these industries - despite increasing global homogenization, it's undeniable culture still has strong localized ties. As long as movies keep coming out of the same places, they won't have the variety you might want, even foreign ones (even French or Indian or Romanian movie people live in the biggest cities in their country, often studied abroad, consume western art and are heavily influenced by western thought).

Music is a great example, thanks to a low barier of entry, it can come from anywhere, and if you penetrate just a little deeper than the mainstream, you'll find a ton of variety and "diversity".

These big franchises start animating the big dumb action scenes literally before they have a finished scrip or even a director, who then basically have to make the movie around those scenes, which explains why the action scenes are so disconnected from the plot scenes nowadays.

FWIW this is one thing I don't agree with - the action scenes are disconnected, they're often shot by second unit (basically a different director and often even crew), but they're not necessarily made before the movie, at least not in the big blockbusters, maybe in the martial art stuff where action carries the movie.

It probably has something to do with a deconstruction being the literary equivalent of pissing on your face, so even an idiot could get the “meaning” behind it.

It looks like a TV movie compared to Die Hard or Predator or T2. "Goldeneye" saved the franchise.

The Living Daylights was the best Bond film he shouldve done more. License was alright but suffered from being r-slurred at numerous pounts like with the truck

The theory never worked because they always did references to Moore and Connery Bond films in later movies. Like Bond’s dead wife is mentioned in a Dalton one and I think he mentions a few gadgets from the old days in a Brosnan one. But that was in the old days when franchises werent supposed to have consistent lore or tone. Now that everything is a cinematic universe Craig’s Bond tries to tie in every fricking thing to the next movie

You should watch every good film twice for this reason. Once for the wow factor, once to appreciate what it truly is. Depriving yourself of the wow factor just means you’ll be dissatisfied with any film that doesn’t hold up to a rewatch— but on your first run through instead
