The West Australian today brings further results from the Utting Research poll that credited the state Liberals with a 54-46 lead, finding 58% planning to vote no on the Indigenous Voice compared with 29% for yes and 13% undecided.

Only 29% yes. Yikes

The poll further records 54% saying the stateโ€™s Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act had made them less likely to vote for the Voice

Holy shit with those sorts of numbers I was expecting Utting Research to be one of those ultra chud polling agencies that show up and say anything, but they seem to be relatively balanced and reasonable.

Could be an outlier but if true then the Voice might just be the catalyst of the chuddening of Australia. The comments on that article are funny though

At this point I think Vic might be the only Yes state outright. I've seen sentiments shift a lot in NSW over the past few months

Resolve has been giving Tassie as slightly more Yes than Vic for a couple polls now. I think Vic is less a given than people think.

It'd be hilarious if Tas was the only Yes state and it was the reverse of the red mainland map.

That law is some bullshit though. Any farmer (or person with acreage) wanting to build a dam, dig any deeper than 12m, build a fence, do any land clearing for bush fire prevention, etc has to pay for an indigenous person to come out and make sure its not a 'sacred site' and also pay a permit for the works(price set by the indigenous elders). It's just funny how it's coincided with the referendum and has subsequently chudded an entire state :marseyderp:

Who qualifies as a knowledge holder is getting delegated to the various Aboriginal land corporations but none of thats been done yet. Hence the confusion.

Also, the prices they can charge per hour and for what kind of work have been set by the government, but it isn't capped, which makes sense at face value, but the whole thing is insane and was a serious reminder for everyone how out of touch the political class is.

Unfortunately, while the Liberals would likely overturn this legislation if they come to power, they are completely r-slurred and controlled by religious nut jobs and libertarian quacks.

I don't think they're reliable tbh.

I can't see any polling done them for either the last State or Federal elections. If this was Newspoll, Roy Morgan, or Resolve I'd give it some weight, if it was Essential I would side eye it, but without being able to compare how close their previous polling has been to actual election results its not worth the pixels illuminating my greasy unshaven face.

While I don't doubt No is stomping in WA, given the heritage kerfuffle, 58/29/13 is too steep imo. Hence why I thought it might have been referring to the opinions of WA State Libs.

I would round down to No beating Yes in WA by 55-45, or 60-40, or something in-between. Assume the gap is widening each month, especially if on the lower end (55-45), given the ongoing controversies.
