I don't know if they actually made it on a sub or not, the comments were primarily "OMG SO STUNNING AND BRAVE" and there wasn't a lot of substance so I didn't read much. For the USN, the submarriners have an incredibly long pipeline, several years before they even get on a sub so it's entirely possible they took the Wachowski pill before they finished power school and then got shunted into a consolation job instead of a combat role.
