Dating someone who admitted they've had all their devices seized by the fbi

Been seeing a guy for a few months and he just admitted he had all of his electronic devices seized by the FBI about 3 years ago due to his IP appearing to have visited a list of child sexual abuse material websites. He insists he is innocent and that another man in his area was raided at the same time as some Vpn or something was taking IPs from this area to use to access these websites. He then changed his story and said he was framed by this tech guy who hates him. He says he is definitely innocent as his devices were seized almost 4 years ago and he still hasn't had any charges. Don't know how to proceed or approach this. How likely what he is saying is true?

The vises can hold the devices securely but not prevent the FBI from confiscating the devices

I played Vidya with a dude I met online who said smth similar happened to him while in highschool.

Don't remember the full story but just like saying bomb shit online. Got charged with terroristic threats or w/e. Said it was back in early 2000s.

Feds showed up and took all his shit and he got charged for it. Was on probation for a long butt time.

I mean yeah, but also no.

99.9% of people/kids who play CoD and use voice chat probably fall under this category. And I think that was the context, that it was like online game related shit.

Although probably smth more gay like WoW or w/e.

*But yeah idk, it's the whole 'in Minecraft" / fedposting meme. But sometimes shit happens.

Saying I'm going to kill you to somebody over x-box live is still probably protected. You have to get really specifically r-slurred to actually get charged for it or even for the police to show up.

My point is your friend was almost certainly being r-slurred levels of mad at video games.

Yeah, I get it. I don't remember the specific details, but I think it was people he knew locally and somehow the school found out or smth.

So like, yeah you're right he is dumb. But a lot of teenagers are, so idk.

I understand why people get in trouble for fedposting. It's still kind of crazy, though.

When you're underage, recording your S.O. fricking you means the law will also frick you.

No it was something more akin to fedposting

You'd think it would be a quick process, they clone your drives on your computer and phone, but instead they sit on it for months. Very inconvenient.

That's what I was thinking.

Is it even technically illegal to just browse stuff like that on some dark web 4chan equivalent? I always imagined they are only going for people who distribute it, like drugs. But admitedly I'm not that knowledgeable on this or ever felt the need to consider it.

And let's not mention that they aren't tracking you down through TOR if you never contributed to it in any way, I think when they busted people for anything dark web related they always tracked transaction through cryptos or waited the owner to slip up in some way to be able to connect them (like silk road).

Generally speaking, in USA, using the internet to view CSAM is a federal crime because it's basically guaranteed you are making a digital request for illegal no-no pictures across state lines and they can get you for 'only' looking online.

Also TOR has a large percentage of nodes run by glowies, so yes they can track you through TOR. TOR will prevent your boss seeing your homosexual lobster fetish website, not the feds.

Go buy a tiny adult asian woman if you need to have little females, CSAM isn't worth going to jail and being made somebody's b-word for 30 years.
