As very low income housing, the 30% AMI units where the city gives tax breaks to housing developers if they build units that rent to people that make under $22,000 annual income or 30% of the AMI require a 750 credit score and my credit score is only 724, then I have to get it up 26 points so I can qualify for very low income housing.
I have good credit a 100% payment history on my report and my credit is too bad for very low income housing units. I'm about to just get a mortgage and buy a house instead.
Now since I was denied for very low income housing based on credit for having good instead of excellent credit, I have to wait for 3 more years up a waitlist.

If you want good credit here's how you do it:
Apply to two or three no fee credit cards, lie about your income since I assume you don't work. When you get approved spend a little bit each month on each card.
Always pay on time, never close them you want the average age of account to be long.
Every 6 months request a credit limit increase.
I have 826 and I have 8 credit cards I barely use.

Thanks, I stopped using my credit card because honestly, I'm trying to conserve as much money as possible.
I live on $150 a month after rent and bills.

You can just keep the same spending habits but use the credit cards instead and pay it off right after you use it. I don't think having credit cards vs when I didn't made a big change to how I was spending my money.

Except my spending habits include not spending.
I'm trying to live entirely on food pantry food and food stamps.
Rent is 65-70% of my income alone.

I think some places let you pay rent via credit card too, you can try looking into that.

I may pay my bills I already pay, but honestly, if I run out of money, I would really prefer to have my internet or electricity shut off for a bit then have a mark on my credit score.
One bad mark on your credit report can lock you out of renting for life.

If your bills get sent to collections that'll still frick up your credit score

Which is why I pay it off before that occurs.

They charge you the credit card fees to do that, so you pay 3% more for rent.

Disability.
True answer, I need to remain under Medicaid income limits because private insurance doesn't cover long term care programs and they require Medicaid.

Sorry to hear that you're disabled. I won't reveal too much about myself but I had a extremely disabled family member and they did not get much from the government

I just have a high vocabulary intelligence so I can speak eloquently and it was missed but developmentally and intellectually disabled. I have 3 DSM diagnosises of developmental disabilities.
Considering I'm capable of living independently with a part time caregiver instead of in a group home or institutional setting, and have been paying bills and finding ways to work with my intellectual impairment to function such as putting bills on autopay, it's not as if I'm not putting forth effort. I need to set a lot of reminders on my phone otherwise I'll forget even simple things.
It does cause trust issues though because companies exploit the ways I manage to function such as suddenly jacking up the internet bill from $20 to $77 a few months after I put it on autopay.
I'm just able to emulate being functional very well. It's just my attention, focus, memory, congitive abilities, are really really shit.

Do you ever plan to work or is that out of the question for you? I'm not asking in a judgmental way. I'm just curious

You don't have to spend on the cards, just enough to not get them closed like a dollar or 2

This is the way. Buy a pack of condoms and throw them away because nobody living on $150/mo is getting laid, then pay off the card every month.
