This is exactly what the asylum conventions are supposed to cover.

Funny then because the asylum convention was signed in 1967 and TPS was enacted in 1990. It also definitely makes sense that Salvadorans were given TPS in response to an earthquake in 2001 which is currently scheduled to expire in 2025. Nicaragua and Honduras have been on TPS since Hurricane Mitch.

Like yeah it does make basic sense that people from Haiti deserve asylum and they have it. But that doesn't mean that the legal framework around it makes sense. A broken clock is right twice a day. Appealing to the very abused and clearly inadequate Protocol Relating to the Status of Refugees is just burying your head in the sand at this point.

I don't even disagree with you that lots of asylum claims are bogus, but you agree with me "people from Haiti deserve asylum" so uh... pick a better example to complain about?
