I've no idea if this is the intent, but to me, CSAM sounds more technical and can encompass other things like audio content and shit which wouldn't be called porn in normal circumstances. The technical weight of the term also sounds much more imposing than CP or the CAP example and removes any inherent titillation associated with the word pornography. It also can't be typoed or taken for anything else like CAP could, or the two characters of CP.

Just my take though I have no actual idea, but personally I am partial to the verbiage of CSAM.
