I've still got hope that !khive will win this, but it should not be this close. I'm sorry but I've got a few things to say.
I must express the profound disappointment I feelβdisappointment that, after all we've been through, after all the progress we've made, after all the ideals we've fought for, America has voted for the wrong choice. It voted for Donald Trump over Kamala Harris, and in doing so, it has failed to honor the promise of a more just, inclusive, and forward-thinking society.
I feel like I'm witnessing the death of democracy and the end of history as a story of progress. No, it has become quite certain that our species is capable of going backwards and if serious steps aren't taken, that it is the direction we will backslide toward.
To see Kamala Harris underperforming amongst women is despicable. To see Kamala Harris underperforming amongst Latines is despicable. To see Kamala Harris underperforming amongst Blacks is despicable. Don't get me started on the younger generation. They were supposed to save us. I don't know anymore, I'm just so heartbroken.
I'm at work right now and I can't focus. I keep thinking about what kind of world we are leaving behind for future generations. One where bullying an hate can get you into the White House?! One where we don't support women striving to break the glass ceiling? If you're a parent, what do you tell your daughter as they witness the country choose misogyny over women's reproductive rights?
Despite how competent Kamala Harris is, racist America has decided that Trump is superior. Frick that. Donald Trump, the man who incited an insurrection, who constantly undermined our democratic institutions, who sowed division and hate for four years in office. Donald Trump, the man who has shown, time and again, that his interests lie in personal gain, not public service; who has consistently exhibited a disregard for the truth, for basic decency, and for the values that this nation was supposed to stand for.
The decision to vote for Trump is, in many ways, a vote for regression. It's a vote for returning to the days of inequality, the days of turning our backs on the most vulnerable in our society. It's a vote for stoking the flames of racial division, for undermining the rights of women, for denying the existence of climate change, and for dismantling the social safety nets that so many Americans rely on. It's a vote for a future in which the wealthiest continue to grow richer while the rest struggle to keep up. It's a vote for a future where truth doesn't matter, where facts don't matter, where the very fabric of democracy is left in tatters.

To the !khive, let's not lose hope. However, we must never forget what the USA has shown us. It has become clear that a good percentage of the population don't want freedom, democracy, and equality. They want authoritarianism, oppression, and hate. We can't let them win. As Margaret Thatcher would say, "don't let the bastards grind you down".
