If you’re applying to 600+ jobs, then you’re job hunting wrong.

He literally is. He’s applying through LinkedIn’s “Apply Now” function that just links his profile to the job poster.

:#marseylaugh:

But really this probably unemployment fraud

Nothing says, I'm a college graduate like presenting a graph as is without any interpretation and information. 600 applications, in what fields? What kind of jobs? What salary? How well did these jobs suit your profile? Can you grade them on your "enthousiasm" to be able to work for them? What are you a graduate in? I mean I assume it's probably some techy field because they use that stupid data-tool that has been reposted a gazillion times on r/dataisbeautiful.

Some people really think that just throwing their resumé at a person is enough to get the job. Saying the right shit during an interview and looking like you mean the shit that you say -even if it's the biggest pile of bullshit you ever heard coming out of your mouth- can land you a nice 20$ an hour job with benefits without a college degree. But the most effort a redditor wil put in to the question "So why do you want to work here?" is an akward half-assed attempt at humor "Haha, th-the money, I guess?"

My favorite interview question memory was being on a hiring committee and asking the woman being interviewed “what did you enjoy about the last book you read” just to let her loosen up and speak casually. She went into granular detail about a male feminist murder mystery book, complete with the specifics on a blood filled s*x scene. I don’t ask the book question anymore lol.

Because my work personality is a dry butt professional that exists solely as a face on a camera. I couldn’t risk goading her into more ludicrous answers due to the risk of ousting my own degeneracy.

I’d ask them to immediately act out their plan in case of an active shooter situation and start slamming my open palm on the table at rapid, random intervals while screaming at the top of my lungs.

Antiwork users fetishise failure because they believe that literally everything they dislike about their lives is someone else's fault.

More failure = more oppression = more social power granted to them by modern victimhood culture.

He doesn't strike me as an antiwork-cel.

Just a mediocre degree in a field thats not exactly hurting for people (economics, business analysis whatever those degrees are called). No work or internship experience, lives in bum-frick nowhere, so probably either community college or online school.

Still though, thats some really impressive rejection rate. Theres got to be something more to it. Maybe applying for jobs way above his league.

LinkedIn applications don’t require you to include a resume or cover letter. How much do you want to bet he didn’t opt to include either in most of his 600.

For those who don’t want to wade in the thread for additional context, the guy has a degree in economicss and applied only through LinkedIn and Handshake. Never used Handshake, but LinkedIn is literally just pressing a button to show your interest and link your profile to your potential employer. No cover letter required, no required skills section and barely more than a 500 word job description.

I probably applied to two hundred of these in total over a weekend in late 2020 and the only job offer I got was a commissioned sales position with a life insurance firm.

My batting average was much higher just emailing hiring managers directly and getting their information from specialized sites like governmentjobs.com.

I gotta move in the middle of next year to support my girlfriend and my plan is to hire a professional resume/cover letter writer and skip over the application shotgun blast sites.

I've applied for 4 jobs in the past six years and have been offered and accepted the position four times. 100% success rate.

It's called being qualified and selling yourself as the best candidate for the role.
